In 1888 a group of Windsor citizens established the Windsor Library Association. Throughout its long history the members of the Association have worked to enhance the library. While the Town of Windsor is responsible for the operating costs of the Windsor Public Library, the Association’s efforts provide additional funds to expand the offerings to the public. The Association has funded various programs, materials, building enhancements and innovative opportunities to increase the vitality of the library. Today patrons are able to use their library card to borrow, in addition to books and periodicals, things such as museum passes, electronic book readers, tablets, book club kits, as well as various recordings of music and movies.

Every autumn the Windsor Library Association (along with family and friends) organizes its annual mailing to kick off its annual fundraising drive.

In 2018 the Association celebrated its 130th Anniversary.
